Appeal after raid on Valleyfield Co-Op store
20 April, 2012Can you help track down thieves who raided the Valleyfield Co-Op store in the early hours of the morning last weekend?
Police are appealing for anyone who saw anything suspicious in the High Valleyfield area in the early hours of Monday morning (16th April), to contact them after the Co-Op store in Chapel Street was broken into.
Locals reacted angrily to news of the break-in - the second time in recent months that the store has been robbed.
Resident Jodie Coulter said on Facebook: “That's terrible. Don't they think of the people in the village that need that especially old people who can't travel anywhere else!”
Detective Inspector Michelle Johnson, who is leading the investigation, said: "A number of people broke into the Co-op around 3am and stole a quantity of tobacco. We believe this may have been an organised break-in, therefore I would ask anybody who saw any suspicious activity in the area in the hours, or even days, beforehand to contact us.
"Whether it was someone hanging about, or an unfamiliar car or van seen in the vicinity of the shop, I would appeal for anyone who has any information to contact us on 0845 600 5702 or through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
